Woman, Infants and Children's Nutrition Program (WIC)
WIC is a federally-funded health and nutrition program for women, infants, and children.  WIC helps families by providing checks for buying healthy supplemental foods from WIC-authorized vendors, nutrition education, and help finding healthcare and other community services.  Participants must meet income guidelines and be pregnant women, new mothers, infants or children under age of five.  In California,  82 WIC agencies provide services locally to over 1.4 million women, infants and children each month at 600 sites throughout the State.

Community Nutrition
The purpose of the United Indian Health Services Community Nutrition Program is to educate the Native American population of Humboldt and Del Norte Counties on the benefits of good nutrition and an active lifestyle.  Through increasing access to fresh, healthy produce, hands-on activities with kids, cooking demonstrations, group classes, and information distribution at local community events, we are able to reach people throughout the UIHS service area.  Our hope is that we can help our clients make better decisions when it comes to their health and the health of their families.
