SUMMARY:
Provides general medical care and treatment to patients in medical facility such as clinic, health center, or public health agency, under direction of Physician, by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of Physician.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess client's clinical problems and health care needs.
• Records physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on client's condition.
• Discusses case with Physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive client care plan.
• Submits health care plan and goals of individual clients for periodic review and evaluation by Physician.
• Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures as prescribed by license and applicable laws and regulations.
• Refers clients to Physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment.
• Shall attend department and other meetings as directed.
• Adheres to accreditation and compliance standards/guidelines.
• Maintains a professional, organized, and clean working environment by following organizational policies, guidelines, and safety standards.
• Assists in development of departmental policy, procedures, and quality improvement activities within clinic as directed.
• Records client response and treatment provided in the electronic health record and other appropriate records of care.
• Utilizes good communication skills to maintain positive relationship with clients, providers, co-workers, other departments in the agency, and with other facilities in the community.
• Performs all duties in accordance with the UIHS Mission, Vision, and Guiding Principles.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Nurse Practitioner
• Must have a valid certificate of completion from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
• Must have current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
• Must be Board Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by a national accrediting agency.
Physician Assistant
• Must have a valid certificate of completion from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
• Must have current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of California.
• Must be Board Certified from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
